Background
Director Paul Banks launched Exeter based Fresha in December 2003 creating handmade food using locally sourced ingredients from the regions excellent suppliers to provide a variety of superb foods.

Fresha's original business was delivering to offices to feed hungry office workers five days a week with sandwiches, salads, savoury and sweet pastries, fresh drinks and cakes. The Fresha service soon extended to supplying conferences and functions of any size and delivering to over 300 local companies using a fleet of refrigerated vehicles, delivering a delicious range of superb seafood, prime meats and speciality cheeses plus Fresha are dedicated to acting positively towards our environment and uses completely biodegradable packaging for their products thus reducing waste and the impact on the environment.

In 2006 Paul looked at further ways of reducing the impact of his business on the environment. To reduce his companies energy consumption he targeted his running cost of refrigeration at his busy working kitchen and the Fresha vehicle delivery fleet.
The Solution
Celsius Systems UK Ltd demonstrated to Paul how with a minimum capital outlay his goal could be achieved with the easy to use Kooltrak temperature monitoring system. By altering defrost cycles of the refrigeration units and improving performance Fresha achieved energy savings that covered the cost of the installation within a 12 month period.

An added benefit to Fresha is the improvement to the companies “Due Care & Diligence” and “Risk Assessment Procedures”. In the kitchens Walk in Cold Rooms and fridges data loggers are used to record temperatures every twenty minutes 24 hours a day and each vehicle has temperatures logged at five minute intervals.

Paul Banks says “The recording of temperature data by the Kooltrak system has enabled substantial energy savings to be made. Being able to track and log food temperatures from the kitchen preparation to the customer delivery point is excellent. Richard Ingham my Kitchen Manager is responsible for instigating the companies “Due Care & Diligence” and “Risk Assessment Procedures” and has found the system to be a valuable means of recording data, checking performance of equipment and enabling prompt rectification of faulty refrigeration plant.”
